Today's Words Of Inspiration
Posted by Hal Bogerd at June 5, 2007 7:39 AMI've read this quote from Texas singer/songwriter/Flatlander Butch Hancock in numerous print articles (most recently in an excellent article on Joe Ely which can be found in No Depression #68 March-April 2007) and on numerous websites but here it is just in case you've missed it.
"We grew up with two things pounded into our brains from the day we were born. One is, God loves you, and he's gonna send you to Hell. The other is that sex is dirty, evil and nasty and filthy and sinful and bad and awful and you should save it for the one you love. So it's no wonder we were all schizoid maniacs."
Now it's pounded into us that there is no God and that we can have all the sex we want with anyone we see fit with absolutely no consequence...physical or emotional. Yeah, we're SO much better off now.

Posted by: larry at June 5, 2007 10:33 AMIt appears the "pounding" only has a 50% success rate.
(CBS/AP) Most Americans do not accept the theory of evolution. Instead, 51 percent of Americans say God created humans in their present form.

Always amused me that folks tend to get all caught up in the trees and miss the forest.
T'ain't the _how_ that's important ..... it's the _why_.
Just my two pennies worth.
