Two Dollar Pistols: live , a new disc, a new record label and a baby!

Local honky tonk legends Two Dollar Pistols recently appeared on WUNC's "The State of Things". If you're not familiar with John Howie's band, or if you are, give the archived show a listen and then check out some older Pistol tracks on their myspace page! Over ten years ago North Carolina's Two Dollar Pistols emerged as leaders of the Triangle alt/country/rock scene alongside Whiskeytown and the Backsliders. Whiskeytown and the Backsliders are long long gone but the Two Dollar Pistols carry on staying true to their country roots putting out discs you could give to your hipster alt country friends or to your cowboy boot wearing uncle that stopped buying country records thirty years ago.

Sunday, June 24th, Two Dollar Pistols played their annual outdoor show at Southern Village just south of Chapel Hill. The Pistols played material from their back catalog, several tasty covers including "Blistered", "Walk A Mile In My Shoes" and "Kiss An Angel Good Morning" as well as most tracks from their excellent new release "Here Tommorow, Gone Today" which is available from John Howie Jr. and Michael Rank's 8thhouserecords.

Between starting a record label, putting out a new disc of original tunes, playing gigs with Two Dollar Pistols, drumming with the rocking Snatches of Pink and becoming a dad, John Howie Jr. just might be the hardest working man in show business!
