Americana "MySpace"
Posted by Larry Karnowski at August 6, 2007 10:00 AMOur friends over at AmericanaRoots.com have started a new Americana music social networking site -- sort of a MySpace or FaceBook for twangy music -- called Emugga. I'm signed up over there, so why don't you sign up and mark me as a friend?
And Gregg, could you explain the name "Emugga?" It's errr... um... an interesting choice! ;-)
Thanks for the plug Larry ;-)
Emugga? Actually, it's a song title from one of my favorite Austin bands, Soul Hat. The band was on fire in the 90's and have since broken up. It's some damn fine music if you every run across their 2-3 cd's in the used CD store.
And Google tells me that it means something like a base of a tree in the language Calabash ;-)

Posted by: larry at August 6, 2007 10:35 AMMYROL (mother & daughter) wins BEST SONG and FIRST RUNNER UP for BEST ALBERTA SONG - in the 2008 Calgary Folk Festival Songwriting Competition for "The Mighty Peace". The duo will be appearing at the Calgary Folk Festival this summer to sing their award winning song "THE MIGHTY PEACE".
The song was inspired while crossing an Icebridge on THE PEACE RIVER in Northern Canada in the dead of winter. It is a spiritually moving song about a young man trying to let his beloved mother know that upon leaving this world, he is safe, he loves her and has made it to the other side.
"Absolutely Brilliant ... chills ... chills ! ...
Songwriters create and work over hundreds of perfect songs ... and then one day the universal muse delivers such a great one. I think even someone in Austin would understand the fragility of an ice bridge." Tom Coxworth Folk Routes CKUA Radio.
Please stop in and have a visit...we welcome all visiters...
