Happy birthday, CDs!

The very first CD was made 25 years ago today, and baby, you've come a long way! Read all about the origins of our little friends here.

Meanwhile, let's bring a little fun to this birthday party by sharing what and when was your very first CD purchase.

I'll break the ice (and thereby completely embarass myself): I was a pretty late adopter, not buying my first shiny disc until 1995. It was the soundtrack to "Jurassic Park." Yeah, eat it.

Comments

1990 - Pink Floyd's "The Wall" and the Charlatans UK's "Some Friendly".

Still two of my most favorite albums ever.

My dad gave me a CD player when I was 15, along with a CD of Sousa marches performed by "The President's Own".. US Marine Band. Man. It was just about the most uncool CD gift anyone has ever given, but I loved it, just because it was from him!

My very first CD purchase on my own was Bryan Adams - "So Far So Good".. I think that was the name of the album. I was a HUGE Bryan Adams fan when I was a teenager. That was also my first concert.

First cd was purchased in 1987 - Ocean Rain - Echo and the Bunnymen - German Import. The Killing Moon still stands the test of time. From 1979 - 1986 Ian McCulloch had the best voice in the world. Saw the Bunnymen in the 1980's. Still to this day ranks as the greatest live show I have ever witnessed.

Wow...gotta blow the cobwebs out of the old brain to remember that one, but I'm pretty sure my first CD was Pearl Jam "Ten" in either '91 or '92. Up until that point, it was all cassette tapes for me...
