Flat Duo Jets' Safari (recorded in various Chapel Hill locations including street corners and stairwells) and Mary Lou Lord's Live City Sounds (recorded in a Boston subway station). Sometimes less IS more. Care to add your favorites?

To me, the best of "less is more" is clearly the album The Trinity Session, by the band Cowboy Junkies. The album was recorded inside Toronto's Holy Trinity church, in the span of one night -- and using only one microphone. The Trinity Session became a cult hit, earning rave reviews from critics and substantial college radio airplay for tracks like "Misguided Angel" and their cover of "Sweet Jane."
