Moment of zen

In today's trying times, it's nice sometimes to be reminded that some things never, ever change. Like, for example, Ryan Adams flipping out.

Ahhh.

I was there. It was my first RA concert. Not nearly as bad as these reviews make it out. It was disappointingly short, but we did get 15 songs - some of which were brilliant. Even the poorer songs of the set weren't bad. He was complaining to his sound guy the whole show but he never did through the mic out to the crowd - only apologized politely for the sound issues.

I'm not trying to excuse him for cutting the concert short and I think it could have been handled better but it's annoying to see these media stories blow it out of proportion.

A one time meltdown would be understandable but the boy is developing a disturbing track record of drunken and/or aborted concerts. My first Ryan Adams show was probably my last. Easy tiger!

Back in August Ryan and the Cards made it down here in the Antipodes. I saw his show in Melbourne and it was wonderful. He seems to like Melbourne, lucky for us, as he always appears to be in a good mood when he plays here. That was my fourth time seeing him live, and each time is better than the last.
