Cleaning up, clearing out.
Posted by Hal Bogerd at October 10, 2007 10:24 PMA good friend has stated to me his goal to be cd free by 2008. Inspired, this weekend I began to purge (I'm just a little older than Larry) cassettes. After years of neglect, many were unplayable, some were unlistenable (everybody has bad music choice skeletons in their closet), a few sounded good enough to convert to digital copies and then there was "Yodeling The Classics" by Mary Schneider. Australia's Queen of Yodeling yodels Beethoven, Brahms and several polkas. I popped it in the deck, hit play and the entire family came running. It wasn't unplayable, it was strange but not unlistenable in a car wreck sort of way and it sure wasn't good enough to bother converting to mp3 files. It is getting late and tomorrow is garbage day. Bye Mary. Yodel on! Cassette free by 2008.
Heh. Mary Schneider. Heh.
Trivia! Mary's daughter Melinda is quite the country star in Australia too. No yodelling, a bit on the mainstream side for my tastes but not too objectionable. And she actually co-wrote a couple of songs on the new Elizabeth Cook CD, including Sometimes It Takes Balls To Be A Woman.
