The Sadies - New Seasons - Four Stars
The Sadies are back with their patented "spooky, dusty, desert" music (that I love!). If you like earlier Sadies albums, or for that matter Neko Case's live stuff, you'll definitely like this album. A twangy, rambling, open sound, like Halloween night in the desert... the only person who comes close is Neko, who they often accompany live. Although not as epic as their last two-CD live release, this album has a lot to like. Stand out songs are the haunting Anna Leigh ("Anna Leigh, what's this vision that you see? Was it just an eerie dream, or what else could it mean?") and the doomed cowboy song, The Trial. Great work guys. Recommended.
