Only one release next week to tell you about: Bright Eyes' "Motion Sickness: Live Recordings." Lovely title, no? But for Bright Eyes fans, it's an appealing package. It's a 15-song compilation of recordings from the 2005 I'm Wide Awake It's Morning tour, complete with all your latter-day Conor Oberst faves along with some pretty interesting (I assume) covers -- Feist's (SO hot right now) "Mushaboom" and "The Biggest Lie" by Elliott Smith. The raving fan will delight in the accompanying 24-page booklet.

Not a Bright Eyes fan? That's cool. OR IS IT?

Definitely not cool. So far, his new "Casadaga" disk has been my #1 album pick for 2007.

I'm a fan but not a fanatic. I find the Bright-Eyes-spoken-word-first-track syndrome annoying. "Clairaudients (Kill or Be Killed)" from Cassadaga and "At The Bottom Of Everything" from I'm Wide Awake, It's Morning are tracks that make me appreciate the skip track button on my cd player.

Yeah, that track has been completely removed from my iPod/iTunes. The rest of the album is great, though, especially, "I Must Belong Somewhere," which I think is my favorite song of 2007.
