Happy Birthday, Gram

Gram Parsons, the father of alt-country and Americana (he would have called it Cosmic American) would have been 61 years old today.
Gram died of an alcohol and morphine overdose in Joshua Tree National Monument in 1973, but in his short brilliant life he started the ball rolling for thousands upon thousands of today's performing songwriters.
Merle Haggard, currently in the news for having his CD "The Bluegrass Sessions" dissed by the Grammy folks as not being Bluegrass at all, was one of Gram's major inspirations.
Happy birthday, Gram!
