Mighty Ghosts of Heaven - Mighty Ghosts of Heaven - Four Stars
High energy mountain Old-Time music with great clawhammer banjo and beautifully scratchy fiddle, these Ghosts know how to rock! Some of the songs diverge into Squirrel Nut Zippers-esque Vaudeville like Hawthorn Girls, but the Ghosts sound best when they play hard-driving, fiddle-fueled Old Time like Grapes Will Turn to Wine and Chickens Are A-Crowin'. They have a nice vocal range, with three male and one female voice. Harmonies aren't the strongest part of the band, but they add just the right bit of spookiness to these mountain songs. Recommended.
