Two more ways to love the earth today
Posted by Stacy Chandler at April 22, 2008 12:46 AMIf by "love the earth," you mean "snag some good music," that is.
Seems Murry Hammond of the Old 97's releases his first solo disc, "I Don't Know Where I'm Going But I'm On My Way" today. And in confirming that juicy little tidbit, passed along by Mike, who has written a review, I learned that the Old 97's also have a new one in the works, due next month. Awesome.
Also? Elvis Costello is releasing a vinyl-only album called "Momofuku" today. He's also released a new "session" with Coward Brothers (that'd be Costello and T-Bone Burnett) called "Henry and Howard's Last Entry into Brussels," and the method of that release is also a bit, um, unusual:
“U.S. edition of record will be released on a state-by-state basis, in alphabetical order. Due to problems with piracy, only one copy will be manufactured for issue in each state or international territory. Individual copies will be encoded with the new, KNARP discriminators and secreted in the racks of selected stockists. Those discovering each unique disc will be free to do with it as their conscience draws it.”
Um, okaaaaaaaay. Dude, if you don't want me to spend my hard-earned cash on your music, just say so.
I do believe he did just that.
