Fun fact
Posted by Stacy Chandler at May 13, 2008 1:09 AMQ. Do you know which artist has had the most musical performances on "The Tonight Show"? (And, as a follow up, do you care?)
A. Assuming all goes according to plan, the winner -- Dwight Yoakam -- shall be crowned this week. Dwight is slated to play the show Thursday, which will take him to 24 performances on the show, starting in 1986. He breaks a tie (23 performances) with Mr. Lyle Lovett.
"Jay [Leno] and I always joked about it," Yoakam told The Associated Press on Monday. "I guess Lyle and I have made a career of doing Jay's show."
Whether he was promoting a new record or a new movie (remember "Slingblade"?), he always brought his guitar, he told the AP. "I figured since I was there I might as well sing," he said.
Good call, Dwight. Now step it up, Lyle!
