“Fighting for peace, that’s like screaming for quiet”

Todd Snider’s “Peace Queer” is an in your face eight track EP (not literally an eight-track but eight tracks) that kicks off with a driving Bo Diddley beat on “Mission Accomplished”. Snider reworks the classic Vietnam era protest song “Fortunate Son” to remind us, unfortunately, just how little things have changed in forty years. “Is This Thing Working” (spoken word) and “Is This Thing On”(sung) present bullying as a metaphor for war. “Peace Queer” is a bold move, a political disc that half the country (I won’t say which half) won’t understand. It might not “outsell Thriller” as Snider boldly predicts but “Peace Queer” should be required listening for anyone registered to vote in 2008.

You can listen to “Mission Accomplished” now and
then you can buy a copy on October 18th from your favorite music retailer. If the price of gas has got you down you can save some gas money and cash and download it for free starting on October 11th from his website . Thanks Todd!

Think Dylan and Ochs with twang and a sense of humor.
