New Wilco album in 2009
Posted by Stacy Chandler at August 21, 2008 10:18 AMThis shouldn't come as a surprise, really, considering all the new songs played at shows lately and the fact that, heck, it's about time ... but Wilco has plans to release a new album in 2009. And, also not surprisingly, this Wilco album will be different, according to Billboard's chat with frontman Jeff Tweedy. Tweedy "kinda hate[s]" the previous Wilco albums now, he says, so this one is aimed at being "where it's at," with the "it" being the band and its members' mindset, right now. Stay tuned.
Thanks to HickoryWind pal Caleb for the heads up.
I "kinda hate" Wilco records every now and then. Until I listen to them then it's all love and hugs.

Dear Lord, please don't let Jeff Tweedy become the self-obsessed, narcissistic prick that has so easily befallen the likes of Billy Corgan, Ryan Adams, Axl Rose, etc.
Posted by: Waylon at August 22, 2008 10:25 AMwhen Sky Blue Sky came out I remember Tweedy saying something like "this is the band that i always wanted us to be", regarding the sound of said album.
sheesh. he is sounding like Ryan Adams, isn't he?
Posted by: trey at August 22, 2008 4:54 PMYou can't seriously be comparing Tweedy to those egomaniacs. Ever since the dude got clean he's become quite a charmer of a frontman. You can tell he appreciates his audience and loves performing. The fact that he's unsatisfied with his previous work just proves he still has artistic ambition.
Motherfuckers be trippin'.
Posted by: Jackson at August 23, 2008 5:29 PMEvery time I've seen Tweedy/Wilco Jeff seemed honestly happy to be there and appreciative of the audience and for the record I "kinda hate" Kicking Television.
Posted by: Hal at August 28, 2008 6:26 PMCome on people, you can't head up a solo project with a band name and not think that the primary songwriter doesn't have a head bigger than all of Chicago. All successful musicians have big time egos, whether you think so or not.
Just the same, what I love about Wilco is that I have never liked one of their "new releases" until the 3rd / 4th / or 5th listen. Then, even after the 200th listen I am still finding new interesting tidbits I love.
Give 'em Hell boys!
BTW - Wasn't that SNL performance with the Horn Section just kick butt? I still haven't erased it from my DVR.
