The DNC's tune selection
Posted by Hal Bogerd at August 27, 2008 11:08 PMI've watched the major speeches at the Democratic National Covention. "You Really Got Me", "Start Me Up" and "The Rising" were all played just before or after speeches. They brought out the tired old warhorse from the 1992 election "Don't Stop Thinking About Tomorrow". I was hoping somebody would slip something at least slightly subversive into the playlist but if they did I didn't hear it. Feel free to add to the list and post any tunes you heard played.
There was a WHOLE lot of John Mellencamp/John Cougar Mellencamp (late and early era, you see). I heard "Ain't That America" prominently before (or was it after?) Joe Biden's speech.
Posted by: stacy at August 28, 2008 12:29 AMAlejandro Escovedo performed live! That's gotta count for something.
Posted by: Amanda at August 28, 2008 4:29 AMI know Alejandro performed live but unfortunately that wasn't given ANY primetime coverage and I did hear John Mellencamp or was that a truck commercial?
Posted by: Hal at August 28, 2008 7:11 AMWell I saw Alejandro on CNN ... the bloviators even stopped bloviating to show him.
Posted by: Amanda at August 28, 2008 10:17 PMAlejandro stopped playing "Castanets" in concert for a few years when he found out it was on George W. Bush's iPOD! Maybe the DNC can get him to play it at Obama's inauguration in 2009!
