Undone: A Musicfest Tribute to Robert Earl Keen

In early 2008 nearly twenty musicians paid tribute to the Texamericana music of Robert Earl Keen. The (mostly) acoustic concert in Steamboat Springs, Colorado was recorded and released on two discs by Right Ave. All of of the performers names probably won't be familiar to even hard-core Keen fans but that doesn't mean their versions of his classic songs aren't worth hearing. Reckless Kelly and Chris Knight are the biggest names to take the stage other than Mr. Robert Earl Keen who closes the show with five live tracks including the previously unreleased "Goodbye Cleveland" and an extended twelve minute take on "The Road Goes On Forever". Keen himself described it as "an outstanding show, and emotionally overwhelming to hear them do my songs better than I ever did.” I'm not sure I agree with Robert's review of the show but it is a real treat to hear acoustic versions of these great songs without listening to a drunken crowd shouting "Robert Earl Keen, Robert Earl Keen, Robert Earl Keen" over the music.
