Eric Brace's moonwalk tribute
Posted by Hal Bogerd at July 22, 2009 10:29 PMNo, not that moonwalk.
Eric Brace's new single and video, “Tranquility Base”, is a heartfelt moving tribute to Neil Armstrong, the first man to walk on the moon. Armstrong has never capitalized on his fame and has been almost silent over the past forty years about his “giant leap for mankind”. Eric gently questions Neil about his experience, wondering what he was thinking, before, during and after the Apollo 11 landing. “Was it glorious, beautiful, frightening or sad? You had the view no one else had”. Listening to “Tranquility Base” brought back my long forgotten memories of that July night, of gazing at the moon from my yard and then being called inside by my parents to view black and white grainy images of Neil Armstrong stepping onto the lunar surface. “Tranquility Base” is a great song and a good place to start if you’re not already familiar with Eric’s music. The single is currently streaming at Red Beet Records, is available for download at iTunes and here's a link to Stacie Huckaba's video . If you like it, don't worry, there’s more where that came from.
Eric’s Red Beet Records has released an impressive string of Americana discs over the past few years: Last Train Home's "Last Good Kiss" (Eric’s band, 2007), Peter Cooper’s “Mission Door” (2008) and "You Don't Have To Like Them Both" (Cooper and Brace, 2009). I highly recommend (and own) all three discs.
Bonus track: Eric is the featured songwriter of the week at American Songwriter (07/20/09). You can read his interview here.
Maybe somehow, someway, someday, Neil Armstrong will hear Eric's song.
