Stephen Kellogg and the Sixers / "The Bear"

Stephen Kellogg's "The Bear" on Vanguard Records is a hook-filled album that straddles the line(s) between alt country, folk and radio friendly rock. There are several memorable tracks but the ones that ring truest and linger longest are Stephen's moving story songs: "A (With Love)" (the long lasting repercussions of an unplanned teenage pregnancy on both the mother and the child), "Satisfied Mind" (growing up and figuring out what's really important) and "Mabeline" (drug dealing and romance collide).
